APRIL 2008 DEVOTION
"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
2 Corinthians 5:17
I took my laptop to Best Buy the other day because the DVD drive was not working properly. They called two days later to tell me my hard drive was defective and I needed to come pick out a new laptop, no charge. Wow - wasn't expecting that. I am typing this on my new laptop, which is the exact same brand and model I had previously and works wonderfully. While I originally whined about having to reinstall software and transfer my data, there is something very appealing about anything that is "brand new." I haven't had time to corrupt or break anything. The freshness is well...refreshing! Jesus immediately came to mind. He so longs to bring this newness to our lives! If you have never invited Him to be the Lord of your life, it begins there. As the verse above says, He makes you a new creation and releases you from the past. But beyond our initial friendship with the Lord, God desires to bring this freshness to our lives every day. Too often we allow the routine and pressures of daily life to steal from the joy and miracle of knowing Him. How do we keep our walk with God fresh? The Bible is a great place to start. Don't try to digest too much at a time, one verse can speak volumes! Fill your "spare moments" or "quiet moments" with uplifting music and books, and protect relationships with friends who encourage you in Him. I pray this month will be filled with a new excitement in your relationship with Jesus!
Let's pray. Father, thank You for the miracle of a relationship with You! Help us to make it all You want it to be! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
