Called2Business Luncheon Featuring Os Hillman

April 17, 2008

If we lose the influence, we lose the culture.  If we lose the culture, we fail to advance the kingdom of God.

What are the 7 Mountains?

·         Government – where evil is restrained or endorsed

·         Education – where truths or lies about God are taught

·         Media – where information is interpreted through the lens of good or evil

·         Arts & Entertainment – where values and virtues are celebrated or distorted

·         Religion – where we worship God in spirit and truth or settle for religious ritual

·         Family – where blessing or curse is passed to successive generations

·         Marketplace – this funds and fuels the other mountains, where business is built for the glory of man or the Glory of God.  God is moving to take the Business Mountain back

Interesting statistics

·         90% believe in God

·         78% believe spirituality and business mix

·         70% find meaning and purpose in life because of faith

·         56 million Bible believing Christians in the marketplace

Why We Lost 7 Mountains?

1.       Disobedience

a.       Deut. 28:12

b.       Deut. 8:19-20

c.       Deut. 28:15-19

d.       Our enemies did not have to kill us, we simply disobeyed God which entitled the enemy to come in and take over.

2.       Gospel of Salvation vs. Gospel of Kingdom

a.       We are called to disciple nations

b.       Mountains controlled by small number of influencers – more salvations does not equal control of the mountain

c.       Media – less than 100 people control the media

d.       Only 9 % of professing Christians have a Biblical worldview

3.       Unbiblical view of work and ministry

a.       Sacred vs. secular

b.       Equality in calling

c.       Defining ministry

d.       Local church as equipper

e.       Work is ministry – meet human needs, ministry equates to service “diakonia”, work is worship (“avodah” Hebrew word)

f.         Work to minister – platform, channel to give money, influence societal transformation, evangelism is a byproduct, Colossians 3:23
