FEBRUARY 2008 DEVOTION
"Since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made..." Romans 1:20
Prior to this week if you had asked me, "Have you seen any miracles lately?" I would more than likely have said, "No" or joked that "it was a miracle my house got cleaned or writing was completed or children were fed." God has opened my eyes to the fact that I do indeed see miracles every single day, and that realization has brought fresh life and joy no matter what my circumstances.
In her song "Ordinary Miracle," Sarah McLachlan sings of the ordinary miracles of a raindrop, a sunrise, and the gift of each new day. God used this simple song to remind me of His teaching in Romans that He is revealing Himself to us in ordinary ways constantly. Ordinary speaks of daily blessings we take for granted. Miracle speaks of the wonder that the God of the universe cares for us so much and continues to pursue us even when we ignore or reject Him.
I pray this month that you will embrace the ordinary miracles of your days. Enjoy the sunrise or a bright moonlit night. Thank Him for the rain that comes and the blessing of family and friends. Renew your appreciation for the little things, and like me, I believe your daily outlook and countenance will be brighter and fuller of love than ever before.
Let's pray. Father, thank You for the ordinary miracles you provide every day of our lives. I pray we will all enjoy them, appreciate them, and share them with many around us - all for Your glory and honor and praise. In Jesus' Precious Name we pray. Amen.
