JULY 2008 DEVOTION
We have a strange phenomenon that occurs in our household. I seem to be the only one who can find things that are lost. Even if I direct one of the family treasure hunters to the exact spot, somehow only I can find the missing item. I imagine many of you mothers are shaking your heads knowingly right now. God must have equipped moms with certain sensors for the "lost jelly" on the second shelf of the refrigerator or the pair of pants that actually has the nerve to be hanging in the closet of all places! We have an ongoing joke about these occurrences at home, but it causes me to consider life in the Spirit as well.
How often are we looking for some answer, healing, deliverance, or solved problem from God only to wander around searching without success? Many times when my family cannot find the missing object it is because it is in an obvious place. I can't help but wonder if we miss God's provisions for the same reason. He has given us so many tools and promises to facilitate our life with Him. His Word, prayer, fellowship, praise, thanksgiving, good fruit, the Spirit, angels, and gifts are only the beginning. I pray this summer we will all discover more about the God we serve and appropriate His provisions in ways that open our eyes and grow us up in Him in fresh ways. He has promised, "You will seek me and find Me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13).
Let's pray. Father, thank You for the miracle of knowing You. Please help us to seek You and find You with all our hearts - for every area of our lives. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
