JULY 2009 DEVOTION
Reconnecting with God
I recently spent time with a friend I haven't seen since around 2001 or so. One of my son's is playing summer baseball in her town, and when she heard of it she immediately sent word our way offering her hospitality. When I accepted the invitation to spend time in her home we immediately reconnected, truly "picking up where we left off" some eight years ago. We laughed, talked, cheered on my son's team, and encouraged one another as though we'd been doing so every day of our lives.
As I was walking in her neighborhood my final day there, I was talking with the Lord about how wonderful it is to have such a friend. He immediately encouraged me to challenge my email friends that our relationship with Him is no different. Specifically, if you have allowed any type of interruption to your friendship with God (whether it be a one-day interruption or years), He wants you to know that you can truly "pick up where you left off." He eagerly awaits your open door.
He is knocking. How will you respond?
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . ." Revelation 3:20
Let's pray. Father, thank You for Your daily invitation to spend time with You. We accept! In Jesus' Precious Name we pray. Amen.
