MARCH 2010 DEVOTION

What Has God Gifted You To Do?

“We have different gifts…”  Romans 12:6a

We are currently in the process of fixing up our house in hopes of selling it soon.  My brother-in-law, Joey, has agreed to do quite a bit of work for us and I shamelessly recommend him to any of you with similar needs (remodeling, repairs, upgrades, etc.), though that is not the main point of the devotional.  [Seriously, email me if you want his phone number – his rates are very reasonable]

While Joey and I were walking through the house discussing the various projects, I got a little embarrassed at one point and said, “I know you must think we are pitiful that we can’t do some of these things ourselves.”  To which he replied, “No.  I can’t do investment management like Will [my husband].  This is what I do.”

All I can say is, “Amen.”  Joey knows where his gifts are and he is working to use them however he can.  He does not belittle those who are not gifted in the same way.  What about you?  In what way has God gifted you?  What are you doing with those gifts?  Yours will often be different from the people around you, but they are no less important.  How do you respond to those with gifts that differ from your own?

I pray that this very day each one of us will get a fresh understanding of God’s gifts in our lives and use them for His glory as well as gain a fresh appreciation for the gifts that others bring into our lives.

Let’s pray.  Father, thank You for giving gifts to each one of us.  Please help us to develop them to their full potential and use them exactly as You desire.  In Jesus’ Precious Name we pray.  Amen.
